What is an enclosure?

An enclosure is a protective container that encloses electrical or electronic equipment. Its purpose is to protect both the equipment and the person working with it – from dust, moisture, mechanical damage and electromagnetic interference.

Enclosures are manufactured in a variety of materials, but sheet metal enclosures are most common in industrial applications due to their robustness, durability and customizability. Depending on the installation environment, different requirements are set for IP class, material selection and construction.

Enclosure for industry, infrastructure, energy and telecom

The needs are different depending on the environment. We produce enclosures for four main segments where reliability is non-negotiable:

  • Industry – Robust sheet metal enclosures with high IP protection and the possibility of special holes for cabling, air conditioning units and other installation needs.

    Enclosure for electrical switchboard

    A switchboard enclosure is specifically designed to protect switchboard components from dust, moisture and mechanical impact. These enclosures are often modular and can be customized to specific needs – with DIN rails, cable glands and dedicated mounting surfaces.

    They ensure the reliable operation of the switchboard over time and reduce the risk of short circuits and electrical faults caused by external environmental influences.

    Enclosure classes and IP protection

    Enclosure classes, or IP ratings, indicate how well an enclosure protects against the ingress of solid particles and liquids. The first number describes protection against solid particles (dust, dirt), the second against liquids (water, moisture).

    An IP65 enclosure is dustproof and protected against water jets from all directions, while IP66 can withstand heavy water jets – often required in outdoor and industrial environments. For installations where there is a risk of temporary immersion, IP67 is used.

    Choosing the right IP rating is essential for the enclosure to protect the equipment throughout its lifetime.
